Spacious Comfortable Waiting Areas

When you enter The Smile Shack front doors the first thing you may notice is the balance of open, airy and inviting waiting areas bathed in warm earth tones. There are, in fact, two areas on either side of the front desk with ample plush chairs, living beautiful plants and plenty of sunshine. On your left, as you enter, is an area with a working fireplace (for cold weather only, of course!) and a television. Be sure to tell the receptionist what you would like to watch if the television is not tuned to a station you care to view. On the other side of the front desk is a quiet reading area with a large rack filled with numerous current magazines. This waiting area is also next to a children’s waiting area with games to keep your child occupied, as well as it’s own television quietly tuned to appropriate children’s programming.

Natural Light and Wooded Views

As your hygienist or dental assistant escorts you or your child back to the dental operatories, you may notice that each room has large windows to allow natural light to flood the room, which we feel keeps the environment friendly and open. Through these windows you will be able to see wooded views that change as each season passes. Whether it’s a winter scene with snow-ladened branches, the first blush of spring, summer’s full glory or a woodland animal foraging on a crisp autumn day, our windows are always open to the world outside.

Comfort Pillows

Since Dr. Jeff and the entire Smile Shack team are concerned with your comfort, dental pillows are available to provide you with optimum comfort in our dental chairs. Made of visco-elastic foam that reacts to the temperature of your body, these pillows mold themselves to your exact shape, offering you the ultimate in comfort without pressure. We offer pillows with support for your neck, the lumbar area of your back, and your knees. The knee support raises your knees about six inches. Not only does it help allow the legs to lie in a more natural position, but it takes pressure off the lower back as well. The pillows are covered with a soft medical grade vinyl which is gentle to the touch, yet can easily be disinfected for your safety. Furthermore, these pillows create a very positive psychological feeling of security for children that are feeling uneasy.
