Traditional Braces

Braces are the most widely used method for straightening teeth and are normally used on children and teenagers. Adults may also take advantage of this traditional procedure, however. Braces are typically made of stainless steel, sometimes in combination with nickel titanium, but may also be made of ceramic or plastic to reduce their visibility because these materials blend more naturally with the color of teeth. Tooth movement comes through the use of force applied by an archwire that is threaded between brackets bonded to the surface of each tooth and affixed to the teeth with colorful elastic bands or metal ligatures, which pull the teeth in a particular direction. Teeth will usually move about a millimeter per month, but individual results vary. Every few weeks, Dr Jeff will adjust the archwire and elastic bands to help shift your teeth into the correct position. Typical treatment times for braces vary from six months to two and a half years depending on the complexity and types of orthodontic issues you may have.

Invisalign

Invisalign is essentially an invisible alternative to traditional braces for getting the smile of your dreams. The computerized custom-designed treatment, which Dr. Jeff will work with you to create, consists of a series of aligners (clear retainers) that you switch out every two weeks or so. Each Invisalign aligner is custom made for you, and only you, with exact calculations to gradually shift your teeth into place. Since Invisalign is an easily removed appliance, it doesn’t restrict what you can eat or cause difficulties cleaning your teeth, making it a great way to transform your smile without interfering with your day-to-day life. Six Month Smiles

The Six Month Smiles bracing system utilizes the very latest in orthodontic technology and methodology to reposition your teeth quickly and safely, and provide you with a beautiful smile in about six months. This treatment option may be the answer that you have been looking for if you’ve been hesitant to have orthodontic work done because you assumed you will have to wear visible braces for two to three years. Since Six Month Smiles is focused on the cosmetic appearance of your teeth, treatment time is much shorter than other equivalent techniques, sometimes by up to 75%, which may be ideal for you if you want to look your best for a special occasion, such as a wedding or class reunion. Other added benefits to Six Month Smiles are: cost of treatment is usually about half of what you would expect to pay for Invisalign or traditional braces, teeth are moved slowly minimizing any discomfort you may feel, the wires are small and tooth colored so they are not as visible as traditional metal braces. Schedule an appointment and Dr. Jeff will tell you if the Six Month Smiles treatment is a good option for you.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are custom-made shells of tooth-like ceramic material that are applied over the front surface of your teeth by your dentist to provide you with a long term solution to worn tooth enamel, alignment or spacing issues, as well as chips or cracks. If you are concerned about the attractiveness of your teeth, porcelain veneers have the ability to provide you with an instant bright, white smile with beautifully aligned, shapely teeth. Improvements in the translucent ceramic quality of today's veneers also present a more natural look than ever before. In some cases, veneers may also replace the call for a dental crown, eliminating the need for more invasive tooth treatments. Once veneers are bonded into place, they are quite strong and durable.
